Homeless Perspective on City's Plan to Hire Actors to Play Homeless People!

[From PTH Member Duwon Bryant, in response to news that the Department of Homeless Services wants to spend a couple thousand dollars paying actors to play homeless people in an ad, when real live homeless people are plenty easy to find....]

In auditioning persons to play homeless people what is it that DHS is SUPPOSED to be trying to accomplish in way of helping people whom are displaced? I mean are these ads some sort of a shelter recruitment for the homeless? (LOL) Is the fact that it is hard to get into a badly run shelter, you have to pay rent there, and you are abused & exploited constantly causing a drop in shelter occupancy?! Is DHS trying to convince more people that there shelter system is better than the streets while stereotyping & exploiting the homeless even more ?!

DHS is not working, it should be disbanded and we should focus on a solution to homelessness like the one found in the report "Banking on Vacancy" from Picture the Homeless. Maybe we at Picture the Homeless should have our own open casting call for people to play bad-ass politicians who block and hold-up good bills like Intro 48 !?
