This Week At The Homeless Organizing Academy!
The Homeless Organizing Academy is a weekly series of FREE trainings, open to all homeless and formerly-homeless people, designed for them to get the skills and experience they'll need to fight for justice—and pursue employment as community organizers! Classes are taught by PTH staff, PTH members, and guest instructors with expertise and experience in each topic.
Everyone is welcomed regardless of experience!
Tuesday 8/28: Building Our Power & Coalition Workshop @ 6:00-8:00pm
Build collective power through coalitions is important to us. How we build with communities in the movement is important but must be strategic. Join the Building Our Power & Coalition workshop to learn what is a coalition, how do they support our campaigns and how to represent Picture the Homeless in coalition spaces.
Wednesday 8/29: (w)Riting Resistance Your Pen Is Your SWORD Part 4 @ 2:00-4:00pm
Expression is power and can be your weapon in breaking the mental oppression that exists. If you are looking for a fun and interactive space to write with other poets and share your work, then this workshop is for you! In this session we will explore the art of creative expression, explore how creative writing can heal the soul, and act as your weapon against oppression and injustice.
Friday 8/30: Homeless Organizing Academy Graduation @ 3:00-6:00pm
You are invited to join our first Homeless Organizing Academy Graduation since our expansion!!! Celebrate with PTH Homeless Organizing Academy members, who will be receiving awards and certificates for their accomplishments this quarter. This is a POTLUCK EVENT, please bring your favorite home cooked dish or refreshments.
